Financial Aid

The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science has various continuing programs of financial aid for students, as well as a number of opportunities for scholarships under the auspices of different scholarship agencies. Federal regulations now require that all students applying for federal funds must first complete a Financial Needs Form (FAF).

VETERANS' BENEFITS
The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science is approved for the education and training of veterans and war orphans under various Congressional Rehabilitation and Readjustment Acts and their applicable amendments. Each eligible person must apply for the certificate of eligibility at the nearest Veterans Administration Office before enrollment. The job objective is to be listed as "Mortician." Educational benefits differ greatly under the various bills. Therefore, it is important to the veteran or eligible person to secure counseling from the Veterans Administration to secure maximum benefits. The application for benefits should be made well in advance of the scheduled entrance date. All students taking education and training under the auspices of the Veterans Administration must complete a number of required forms at various times during the school year. The college will be able to advise students in this area.

PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT
Many students make arrangements with local funeral homes for part-time employment while they attend CCMS. These arrangements vary widely with regard to pay, working conditions, and living accommodations. Applicants for these positions may obtain a list of funeral homes from CCMS well in advance of registration. The funeral homes select personnel on a first-come, first-served basis. CCMS does not guarantee employment or endorse particular firms. It is the student's responsibility to find employment. In addition to funeral home employment, there are opportunities in the greater Cincinnati area in hospitals, convalescent homes, department stores, hotels, businesses, and industry. Students should not sacrifice study time unless there is absolute financial need. The CCMS coursework requires the full-time effort of most students.
