Mission
The mission of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science is to provide the best education possible for the entry-level practice of funeral service.
The College's philosophy and objectives serve to guide it toward the achievement of its mission.
Philosophy
The College is dedicated to providing a sound education for its students to help them prepare for a successful career in service to both the community and the profession. Central to the College philosophy is the firm belief that by example and excellence in teaching, supplemented by the opportunity for extensive practical experience, it can develop professionals who will be technically competent, ethical and responsive to the needs of others. Inherent in this philosophy is the College's recognition of its obligation to the student, the profession and the community.
Objectives
To implement its philosophy, CCMS strives to meet the following objectives. CCMS invites evaluation and assessment at any time. CCMS attempts:
- To enlarge the background and knowledge of students about the funeral service profession.
- To educate students in every phase of funeral service, and to help enable them to develop the proficiency and skills necessary for the profession.
- To educate students concerning the responsibilities of the funeral service profession to the community at large.
- To emphasize high standards of ethical conduct.
- To provide a curriculum at the post secondary level of instruction.
- To encourage student and faculty research in the field of funeral service.
- To expose students to diverse opinions, positions, and disciplines.
- To instill in the mind of each student the need for lifelong learning.
