The NBE (National Board Exam) is a comprehensive examination. Most states accept the results of the National Board Examination in lieu of part or all of the written state board examination. The International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards administers the NBE at testing sites during the year.
Students must complete all requirements for graduation before taking the National Board Examination which, effective in 2004, will be a computer-based examination taken at remote sites. Sitting/taking the NBE is a requirement to receive the A.A.S. degree; passing the NBE is a requirement for the awarding of the B.M.S. degree.
The annual passage rate of first-time takers on the NBE for the most recent three-year period for this college and for all ABFSE accredited funeral service education programs is posted on the
ABFSE web site.
