Have questions? We have answers.
We know starting a new academic program can be stressful, and you most likely have a few questions about being a student at CCMS. Below you'll find questions that incoming students frequently ask. You may also feel free to ask any questions at Orientation or contact us.
How do I complete the enrollment process?
Incoming students will need to remit the confirmation fee in order to reserve their place at CCMS.
After we have received your confirmation fee, we will email you the Student Enrollment Guide. The Guide has information on the following:
- Working/living in a local funeral home
- Forms you will submit before Orientation
Do you offer on-campus housing?
We do not offer on-campus housing, but we do offer dormitory-style housing to students through an arrangement with Mount St. Joseph University. See Housing for more information.
How do I find an apartment of other type of housing?

Can I live (and work) in a funeral home while a student?
Definitely; it's a great opportunity. Learn more.
How do I find a roommate?

Are there any scholarships available?
Yes, there are many funeral service related scholarships. In addition, once you are a CCMS student, you will receive periodic notices of scholarship opportunities specifically for students.
What is the CCMS Academic Excellence Scholarship?
Incoming students with a strong GPA are highly encouraged to apply for this scholarship. More details may be found on our Scholarships page.
I don't have any experience with embalming. Will I be at a disadvantage?
No! CCMS students start their education at all different levels of experience. You are at CCMS to learn, so prior experience is not necessary.
What will my lab schedule be like?
You will be scheduled for lab (Clinical Mortuary Practice) one day per week, either in the morning or the afternoon. You will receive your schedule at orientation.
Is there a lab orientation?
Yes, there is a lab orientation during the first week of classes. This is in addition to general orientation on the first day of school.
Do you employ students in the clinical lab?
Yes, we employ students as Lab Assistants.

How do I register for Semester I classes?
Please complete and return the Course Registration form in your Student Enrollment Guide. The Registrar will then register you for Semester I classes following orientation.

Where do I park?
CCMS has only one parking lot; students and staff both park here.
Is parking free?
Yes, parking is free.
Does CCMS offer childcare services?
No, we do not have child care facilities, nor are we affiliated with a child care facility.
Are guests allowed on campus?
In order to be courteous to other students and to maintain the maximum level of security and confidentiality, students must keep personal visitors to a minimum.
Will I have a student email account?
Yes, each student is assigned an email account. You will receive your log-in information at Orientation and be able to get technical help if needed.
Will I have access to a computer on campus?
Yes, the library has desktops and laptops for student use.
Will I have access to a printer / copier on campus?
Yes, the library has printers / copiers for student use.
Does CCMS provide student discounts on Microsoft Office?
What kind of library resources are available to students?
The library has books, journals, and videos on all aspects of mortuary science, as well as study resources for the NBE. The library also offers computers and printers, and the Library Director is available to help students with reference, research, and technology.
Are we required to use the library for assignments?
Yes, there are several assignments that require use of the library's resources.
Do we get a library card?
Your student ID doubles as your library card.
