Our company dates back more than 100 years to 1893 when the Penwell-Gabel funeral home was founded in Topeka. In 1977 Ren Newcomer, a 4th generation funeral director, purchased Penwell-Gabel and the company has grown consistently through the years. It now consists of 40 funeral homes and cemeteries, 700+ associates, and serves more than 14,000 families each year. Our funeral homes include the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes in Kansas, Dove Cremation & Funeral Service in Topeka and Junction City, Kansas, and the Newcomer Funeral Homes in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Wyoming and Wisconsin. Apprentice candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills and a desire to provide the highest quality service to families. This position, under the supervision of a licensed funeral director, will assist in bringing loved ones into our care; manage, prepare and direct funeral services; prepare decedents and operate the crematory. Position includes on-call rotation hours that include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Candidates must have completed an Associate's Degree in Mortuary Science, passed their National Board Exams and meet the requirements set forth by the Wyoming Board of Funeral Service Practitioners.
