Aside from being a licensed funeral director in the State of Ohio, any combination of general education and life experience as well as a willingness to serve others will provide the required knowledge and abilities.

No allergies to formaldehyde or other funeral chemicals or biohazard protections. Mobility: Sufficient to work in an office setting, operate office equipment, ability to travel from the funeral home site locally in performance of job-related duties. May be called upon to carry nominal weight items such as files and other paperwork. Vision and Hearing: Sufficient to read small print, computer screens, and other printed documents. Those hired must have the ability to have normal hearing, natural or amplified. Other Factors: While the normal scheduling is usually consistent and is as-described above, employees recognize that the funeral business is unpredictable and therefore, there will likely be some variation to the normal schedule as needed throughout a given year.
Job responsibilities:
Under Glickler Funeral Home & Cremation Service’s business model, this role is primarily responsible for dressing and casketing (lift provided), conducting funerals and visitations, making arrangements as needed, and office work that includes filing death certificates (EDRS), some running of death certificates, filing forms, and billing (all as needed). Scheduling is approximately 40-45 hours per week, Monday through Friday in most instances within the year. There are NO requirements for: a) embalming, b) removals, and c) being on-call in the evenings or weekends. This opportunity provides great work-life balance and affords the successful candidate the experience of running his/her funeral and cremation business without having to invest or inject any personal equity. There is also a great opportunity for the successful candidate to be considered for succession planning of future ownership of the firm.
