o Meet all requirements of the Ohio funeral director/embalmer state board to be eligible for the Funeral director and/or Embalmers apprenticeship
o Valid Ohio’s driver’s license, clean record and reliable transportation
o Physically be able to lift 75+ lbs, push/pull with assistance up to 500lbs and assist with lifting/moving deceased persons and caskets
o Professional and compassionate communication with coworkers and families, interpersonal skills, proficient in computers, ability to multitask and forward thinking
Job responsibilities:
The apprentice will receive hands-on training under the direct supervision of qualified master funeral directors and master embalmers. This position provides practical experience in funeral directing, embalming, restorative care, family services, funeral home operations, documentation, and related responsibilities. Apprentice must demonstrate compassion, professionalism, attention to detail, confidentiality, dependability, and a sincere commitment to serving families during times of loss. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Completing all tasks required by the Ohio State board to complete the apprenticeship, working under the supervision and direction of licensed funeral directors/embalmers to learn and assist with all aspects of funeral service operations and working hours will follow that of the Master’s will include an on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
