Which application is right for me?
Pre-Application Readiness Check: This is a free tool any high school graduate, first-time college student, or those currently enrolled in a college degree program who have NOT yet earned a college degree. This is used to for the Admissions team to review your information and progress on meeting specific entrance requirements and will assist in providing guidance to prepare your journey with CCMS.
Program Application: If you feel you meet the necessary admissions requirements and have more than half of your transfer credits completed, please complete. There is no application fee.
Once you submit your application, you will receive a verification email. At that point, the application will open. Your application will auto save with every change you make. You may leave the application at any time without submitting it. To return to your application, use the link provided in the verification email.
Student Self-Assessment Quiz: If you are interested in the online distance education format, please complete this along with the appropriate application.
Once you submit your application, our admissions team will review your information and be in touch within 15 days via email.

Send your official transcripts to CCMS
You may actually do this before or after applying. Submitting transcripts for review: If you are currently working on college courses, an unofficial transcript is acceptable for the initial stage of review. Once you have completed all required transfer credits, an official transcript will need to be submitted from the colleges previously attended. Your application will not be considered complete until CCMS has received your transcript(s). Official transcripts may be remitted electronically or by mail in a sealed envelope.

When should you apply?
We recommend that you complete the Pre-Readiness Check Application as soon as you have decided that you are interested in pursuing a career in the death care profession.
We recommend that you complete the Program Application when you are approximately 1/2 done with your prerequisites.

Applicants need to complete general education credits at a regionally accredited college/university prior to being admitted to CCMS. Read more about our prerequisites.
Know your state licensing requirements
Each state has unique licensure requirements for the funeral service profession. State requirements can vary as some require specific college courses prior to licensure. The Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science's accreditation allows a student to sit for the National Board Examination in all 50 states, but students must be well versed in their particular state licensing requirements in the state they wish to become licensed. We also recommend that you check with your state funeral licensing board, each state link is provided on the licensing requirements list above, as regulations change frequently.
Know our medical requirements
Students are required to complete a number of inoculations and tests before the first day of class (you may apply prior to beginning inoculations/tests). You will receive more information upon acceptance.
- Hepatitis B Series inoculation – begin series 6 months prior to program entrance
- Tuberculosis test- within 6 months prior to program entrance
- Chest X-Ray – before 1st day of class
- Tetanus Booster/Inoculation – within 5 years prior to program entrance
International applicants
CCMS is not certified to accept international students at this time.
English language requirement
Applicants whose first language is not English must submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).The testing and results process can take up to three months, therefore those needing to meet this requirement are advised to register and take the test as soon as possible. Registration is completed at TOEFL through Educational Testing Services (ETS). To get a schedule or to register for a test, please visit the TOEFL website. Applicants who have attended a school where the primary language of instruction is English can have this requirement waived.
