Qualifications: • Must be a Licensed Funeral Director in good standing in the state of Connecticut, or able to reciprocate. • Minimum of 8 years of experience in funeral directing preferred. • Strong working knowledge of CT funeral laws and industry regulations. • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to handle emotionally difficult situations with empathy and composure. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and funeral home management software. • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
Job responsibilities:
Position Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and experienced Licensed Funeral Director to join our team in the Hartford County Connecticut area. This role is primarily focused on at-need funeral planning, managing all aspects of services from first call through final disposition. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to families during one of the most sensitive times of their lives, ensuring every detail of the funeral service is handled with professionalism, dignity, and respect. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Respond to first calls and coordinate the transfer of decedents with our internal care team. • Meet with families to plan and coordinate all aspects of funeral and memorial services, including religious or cultural customs, casket selection, obituary notices, scheduling, and logistics. • Prepare all necessary documentation, including death certificates, burial permits, and other state or federal paperwork in compliance with CT regulations. • Coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, crematories, florists, and other service providers to ensure all details are executed flawlessly. • Direct and oversee funeral services, wakes, viewings, and graveside ceremonies. • Maintain accurate case files and service records using funeral home management systems. • Provide support and follow-up to grieving families, connecting them with grief resources when needed. • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FTC, and all applicable state laws and regulations governing funeral service. • Represent the funeral home in a professional manner, maintaining strong community relationships and upholding the highest ethical standards. ________________________________________
